I know this is a little off topic, but indulge me - despite payload only being 29,500 lbs it's not bad for a plane that started test flights in 1969 and was able to deliver a sustained supercruise at Mach 2 at 60,000 for 3,500 miles. I always wondered why it was not adopted by the military since at the time, if i remember right, it would have offered a pretty good performance for a bomber against interceptor technology of the time. Just imaging the performance if she were to have been designed with todays technology - I bet with improvements in engine efficiency both range and payload would have increased significantly, I mean - just compare the range/payload of early 747s against the 400 varient Sorry, but I just love our "great white bird"
