The crash and subsequent fire that I witnessed a few years ago may be related (see the link in my previous post). One of the cover stories was that a B-52 lost a couple of external fuel tanks while taking off from Groom. The trouble with that story is that the location of the crash is not anywhere near the takeoff path.
