Thanks for the post. Your link explains Lidar quite nicely. I don't see anything of interest in the area they were mapping other than the various radar and other EC sites in ECW. My guess would be that they were testing or calibrating an onboard system. Their mission was never discussed on the Dreamland Freq. No activity on any of the about two dozen mission frequencies that I know of either.
