We were not there for more than 15 minutes when I noticed the contrail and we did not see any chase aircraft. But if it was slightly higher or lower it may not have produced a contrail. Of course if our calculations are correct not many aircraft would be able to fly chase at 65-70k ft.

I believe at a certain altitude no ADS-B transponder would be needed. Yes, the FAA requires it, but even regular jets out of Nellis fly in civilian air space without sending an ADS-B signal.
