Hangars come as kits, so you get the size you buy. They are not tailored to the size of the aircraft to be housed within. This makes sense as the buyer may wish to use the hangar for a variety of different aircraft over a long period of time rather than for just one project. Look at the size of the largest hangar at South Base. It can accommodate aircraft of any conceivable size and, if necessary, the interior could be divided into several partitioned spaces to accommodate multiple projects simultaneously.

The two new hangars are the modern type that has been appearing at airports around the globe. They have steel frameworks covered with fabric skin. This makes them easy to build and easy to dismantle.

The website for Britespan, a company that manufactures such kits states that their aircraft hangars are "engineered using the highest design standards to meet the latest building codes and weather loads. Long-lasting covers and high-strength galvanized steel frames make fabric hangars virtually maintenance-free. With a column-free interior of up to 300 feet wide and any length, the clear span of space can accommodate airplanes of all sizes."
