I know I shouldn't, but... So that makes, what, 10...15 Tu-160s in service now? I wouldn't exactly call that a threat at this time. And what's the servicability like? According to most analysts, the Russians would be hard pressed to get six 'Blackjacks' in the air at any one time. A couple of other things you are forgetting. In the 50's and 60's, Russia was the enemy, and ICBMs were not yet reliable enough to replace the bomber as a 'first-strike' weapon. Today, Russia is a friend, and ICBMs and SLBMs are the first-strike weapon of choice, with bombers acting as a back-up deterant and strategic conventional platform. Even if Russia had 100 Tu-160s, I wouldn't call that a threat! Now, please EMAIL me if you wish to discuss this off-topic conversation. Thank you Magoo
