I used to fly on 727 a lot between West Berlin and West Germany, over Easy German territory. My most memorable flight was when the right engine threw a blade in mid air. Made for a very bumpy and quite entertaining flight and landing. Being a smoker at the time I sat in the back, right next to the engine that failed. If the blade had gone the other way I would have never known what hit me. Literally.
But it was all worth it seeing the pilot come back with his "How do I fix my 727" handbook and look out the side windows. He landed us safely on the remaining two engines. There would be no Dreamland Resort if he hadn't.
