I'm sorry, but several sources on the web ( including habu.org ) claim that the MiG 25 WAS in fact developed to counter the A-12, not the XB70!
And what's the use of possesing pearls "so valuable that you're too afraid to wear them", as someone once put it? The F-117A were left on the runway with their engines running during the raid on Lybia and then the premiere was "wasted" on Noriega! The "What-Was-That?"-effect you mention only works once - and then? Develop a new surprise for every new enemy?
I'm just asking questions...
