A first for the Super Bowl, maybe, but I wouldn't call it a "first of its kind." The B-1/B-2/B-52 flyover was a staple of the Edwards Air Show, back when there was such a thing. Always awesome to see.

As an interesting side note...
The B-2 has made a number of single-ship flyovers of the Rose Bowl games in Pasadena. One year, I was visiting my father in Burbank and I saw the B-2 flying relatively low over the San Fernando Valley following a pass over the Rose Bowl. It banked gracefully, turning and climbing to cross the mountains on its way back to Edwards or Palmdale. Now, I had been working at Edwards for quite a few years by that point, and living near AF Plant 42, so I was well and truly familiar with the B-2. Even so, it was strangely disorienting to see it out of context like that. I felt like I was experiencing a UFO sighting.
