Then again, military sabotage is certainly not unknown. Back in 2014 the submarine USS Miami was destroyed by fire at a naval shipyard in New Hampshire. A shipyard worker confessed to setting the fire because he wanted to leave work early but had run out of vacation time.
While the cause of the fire on the assault ship Bonhomme Richard in San Diego this summer is still undetermined, sabotage is a possibility. The Navy recently announced that the ship will be scrapped.
