Currently I am scheduled to be in the LV area October 18. Still figuring out a general itinerary.

Understood the roads in the valley are variable condition. I don't know how realistic Google driving time is but from the "rest stop" off I15 up rainbow across snow springs to 4230 and up the unamed Cherokee mine access road from the west is about two hours at 46 miles. 25 mph average but knowing the last bit on the access road will be much slower.

I guess I should ask, this seems doable as a day trip with an early dawn start. Two hour drive in, hour hike in, hour to pay respects, hour hike out, and 2 hours back.
7 hours from blacktop in and back.
