Lets see if we can sort out the locations: The gate you were at is likely this: 34° 54.409'N / 118° 31.402'W. The RCS range buildings are at 34° 55.677'N / 118° 31.975'W. Sounds like you rode to the east of the gate and then back west towards the gate. The high spot may have been around here: 34° 54.407'N / 118° 30.801'W. Does that sound about right?

There is a wash to the west of the facility. Did the light emit from the wash, or to the left or right of it? You mentioned taking a photo of the area the light came from. Can you post that photo?
