The entire lineage of the C-135 and RC-135 aircraft is pretty fascinating. The Cobra Ball variant is outfitted with sensors to detect ICBM launches, and you can pick them out on Google Earth when looking at Offut AFB. The Cobra Ball aircraft have the right wing painted black, to reduce glare for the observers and cameras aimed out the right side.
