Not sure what to make of it. The photo could be anything from a contrail to the trail of a meteor. I believe it is distorted from high altitude wind, not because the object changed course. The description sounds like a sonic boom. From an aircraft or possibly a meteor. I am not an expert, but I think in order to hear the boom from a meteor on the ground it would have to be fairly close to the observer. The impact of a meteor of that size would certainly be documented somehow. I hope someone else has more input on this.
