I read this a day or so ago. I could believe Barnes and others who've theorized similar explanations if these things were only picked up on radar. I might even buy the images picked up on the the IR could have been a spoof, but how do they explain the visual sightings? Some sort of holographic projection? There have been rumors of such technology going back to the Gulf War, but I'm skeptical.

By the way, there is a "retired USAF intelligence specialist" who's been on a few of the UFO oriented podcasts recently who claims the objects the USN reported were classified USAF systems developed and built at Palmdale. I listened to one of the shows, and the guy didn't sound credible to me.
