I guess they are taking visitors a lot more serious now. I did the exact same thing years ago and the security on a Sunday afternoon just told me turn around. I did make a trip report for this site but it looks like it was taken down? not sure? I couldn't find it. There is a youtube video. Just some signs and then the real gate where security is posted.
