My letter to the Governor

Dear Governor Sisolak,

As a part-time resident of Rachel, Nevada, I am writing this letter to you to express my concerns regarding the “Storm Area 51” event next month. Last week the Lincoln County Commissioner granted the permits for this event. Rachel has zero infrastructure: no police department, no fire, no hospital, no stores and no gas station. It only has an Inn which is planning the event. If someone needs serious medical attention the only way out is a casevac airlift to Las Vegas. The sheriff is over 50 miles away in the small town of Alamo. The sheriff already expressed he does not have the resources to handle this event. I hear the security for this will be handled by the friends and family of the Inn who are the promoters. Patrons are going to show up with empty gas tanks and nowhere near the amount of food and water needed. In my opinion, the permits should have been rejected on these grounds. The Inn will run out of food at some point and I feel this will turn into an ugly rioting mob. I fear for the safety of my property and for the residents. There will be no way to call for assistance as the limited cell service will be over loaded. So with all this in mind, I humbly ask you to overturn the commissioners verdict and cancel the permits.

Thank you for your time, Governor.

Sincerely,

Jeffrey Gregos
