I have a HAM radio in my truck with a roof antenna. Plus a mag mount for the scanner. Never had a problem with security because of that. VHF and UHF both work fine. I sometimes use a 50W VHF/UHF crossband repeater at my house. We hope to set up a mixed DMR/analog repeater in the Rachel area some time in the future. For now there is spotty coverage of the Warm Springs and Highland Peak repeaters. You can find the specs on RepeaterBook.
