Thanks Steve Douglass for that fallacy. A detonation wave engine pulses at several thousand times a second. The exhaust on such an engine would normally appear continuous. Let's just knock that one off now, OK? I've made these contrails in all kinds of aircraft. Next time I try it in an Aurora, I'll let you know what happens.
