The contrail is actually quite distant and the airplane has obviously long since passed out of frame. The close appearance is due to forced perspective from the camera angle.

Also, the "doughnuts on a rope" effect is a common phenomenon called subsidence puffs. Under certain conditions any ordinary aircraft can produce this type of contrail.
