Regarding flying around Half Moon Bay to detect this plane, I suspect close but no cigar. Probably Pillar Point (aka Princeton by the Sea). The military has had their hands on that area for a long time. I believe Vandenberg still runs a tracking station there. The dish is very obvious whenever I drive down the Pacific Coast Highway.

There is a commercial airport at Half Moon Bay, but are the spooks going to climb the tower and say "Hey, can you spot our plane?"

EGG no longer exists. The assets have been sold to a few companies. Probably the military portion of the company is run by the Carlye Group. It would be interesting to drive by the EGG Special Projects building and check out the sign.
