Fast(over the speed limit) is not the normal mode of moving regular every day over sized(wide and or long and or high) loads down any highway. Plus the way you stated, you would have thought a lead SUV with lights(police or escort)would be up the road a mile making sure all gets out of the way(have seen that many times)...Did you see any other cars/trucks before and after the convoy passed? Did you notice any aircraft in the area? If you had stopped, turned around and followed at a distance of 1/2 mile behind them, and it was something no one should see/know about, am sure another SUV etc may have showed up! keep us posted.
