The photo was published in Volume 4, Winter 1990/91 of World Air Power Journal in an in-depth article of the Mig-29 by Jon Lake. The caption to the photo reads...
"Photographed by a Swedish air force Viggen interceptor, this Mig-29, one of the first encountered, manoeuvred hard to try to conceal its underwing stores. Some analysts believe it was carrying a pair of AA-9 'Amos' missiles, usually associated with the Mig-31 'Foxhound'."
The same article features a nice colour photo of Red 661, in full East German markings, sat on a German airbase. I have not found anything yet to say this aircraft is not still in Europe.
