Right,......Wake Island like Midway Island while not "active military, as such, are still manned....(By who I'm not sure) Flights across the Pacific are long and tiring even in jets.....So sometimes flights will stop over..The next stop IIRC would be Guam......Too they are manned in case of aircraft that have trouble.....About 2-3 months ago an airliner had an in-flight emergency and diverted to Midway Island and landed AOK........
