I have the utmost respect for our veterans, especially the ones who have fought in the war on terror or WW2. I cannot even imagine which of our freedoms would have been lost, or how the civil rights movement would have gone, etc, had someone like Hitler won WW2. However, our veterans and our allies definitely made sure we need not worry about that.

I also picked up this months edition of Flight Journal which is dedicated to D-Day. I knew some sort of gliders were involved and I figured it was hang gliders for some reason. Boy was I ever wrong on that one! Flying in one of those overloaded gliders being towed by a C-47 must have been quite nerve wracking!
