I remember someone's post on the F-117 from a while back....a resident of the town of Tonopah.
Something along the lines of (and I'm not quoting here, just going from my internet memory):
"We (i.e. many of the town residents) knew for years that there was a secret jet flying out of the Tonopah base. We all heard it flying around at night. And we all believed how important somehow it was to keep this aircraft... the jet aircraft what we were hearing in the evening skies....should be kept secret to ourselves, as good residents of the town of Tonopah, and for this great nation."
I always thought this story was pretty fascinating.
