Sorry, but the rules of geometry don't change depending on the distance of the object. I do research involving photogrammetry and I work with calculations like this all the time.

It is true that with a distant object you couldn't tell the difference with your own eyes but this was taken with a zoom lens and is blown up in the photo. The geometry will be the same as if you were holding a model of this object in front of you in the same orientation.

The only way to tell the size of this object is to know the altitude it was flying at or have some measurable known point of reference at that same altitude.
