This whole damn thing has been a heartbreaker. The contractor has screwed the pooch. Criminally so. The taxpayers of a dozen-odd countries are screwed.
And still, this is an amazing weapons system. I have some (limited) visibility into its capabilities and performance. It is going to be a world-beater. The detractors, who have every right to be furious about the mismanagement, do not understand how different this aircraft is from everything else with wings & an engine.
But Jeeezus H. Christ, have they made a mess of this procurement. And by "they," I mean "my customer," so this is maybe a good place to shut my pie hole.
