Not to forget the jet engine, angle-deck and steam catapults for aircraft carriers, as well as the Rolls-Merlin engine (probably the best recip A/C engine ever made), Great Britain has produced a huge amount of innovative breakthroughs in aviation. The Comet would have been the first successful jet transport had the square-window crack-propagation issue had been prevented and if the Lightning been made in the U.S. it would have had a great impact on the Cold War. Although not British, the Canadian TSR-1 was waaaaaay ahead of its time. In other areas most notable American TV are rip-offs or derivative of BBC programming.
