Not a long way John, but it does give us enough time before we have a mix of A/I and leathal weapons protecting us to decide if we wish to have "Gort" as a reality. Remenber Patton's speech near the end of the movue about an opinion on such matters. Besides, where does the accountability lay for mistakes made by our warrior UAV's? With the "pilot" sitting hundreds of miles away? The Manufacturer? The maker of the chip that could have failed?

True I'd rather send a machine into harm's way than a valuable American pilot, but just like the civil liberties we have suspended in the wake of 9/11, let's not be too quick to validate it for the long term, and withhold vigilance.
