Yeah, That is kinda what I was thinking; if it was a weight/balance issue then that was in the pilot's domain and doesn't constitute a mechanical failure, but that was the immediate, short-term and final determination about what brought down one of our front-line, and very expensive Eagles. Plus the pilots were placed incommunicado when then returned to England and stayed that way until everybody lost interest and unlike the F-16 pilot that went down over Eastern Europe (because he forgot to turn on his tail-warning radar) and got his ticket pulled, these guys are still flying so if there was any real issue about plugging a very expensive piece of airplane into the Libyan landscape because of a weight/balance issue, it sure didn't affect their flying status.
