When all aircraft are designed and certified they are given a designation as to weather they are to be manned by a crew, 2 or more, or if they can be legally flown by a single pilot. The Beechcraft King Air series is most often flown in commuter airline, corporate and charter operations. Because of FAA and insurance requirements these aircraft operations need a crew of two. There are numerous King Air’s in the hands of private citizens that are flown by a single pilot. The King Airs in government service were flown both single and dual pilots till after this accident where they now have to dispatch with two pilots.
