No sitting president has been known to have visited Groom Lake. The president is sometimes briefed on Groom Lake projects, but it may be impractical to visit due to the logistics involved and the media spotlight associated with presidential travel.

John F. Kennedy visited the Nevada Test Site, specifically Area 25, to see the nuclear rocket development area. Interestingly, the official map of his 1962 visit shows the Groom Lake base, although listed under its old name (Watertown).
