The RQ-170 looks cool, but what I've been hearing is that there is not a lot, if even any, new or sensitive technology there for the Iranians or the Chinese to exploit. It's a UAV--not new. Its LO design is basic, and in several aspects is no more advanced than the F-117, which is a) old and b) already in Chinese hands. The sensor/comm systems are not exotic.
The whole idea was to put something together in a hurry that could carry basic ISR systems over denied airspace without being detected. It was a rush job, but it worked well enough to get the job done, apparently. Right up to the point where it didn't. ;-)
The real issue, IMHO, is that we seem to have this problem of getting cocky with our clandestine systems, once they develop a good track record. It cost us a U-2, an F-117, and now an RQ-170. And who knows what else...
