Yes. F/A-18. The area over Death Valley is a designated air-to-air training area. No live fire, of course. I flew F-4's there in the 70's and F-105G's in the 80's. In the late 70's, a law was passed banning supersonic flight over National Monuments. Death Vally is a National Monument. That severely limited air combat training, so now everyone usually goes to Chocolate Mountain or out over the Pacific. The Death Valley area still gets used for basic maneuvering, but not advanced tactics.
