What is interesting is that the USAF kept the SR-71 well into the late-90's. Now the US Govt has the Global Strike Prompt initiative to stike anywhere within one hour requires the need for an aircraft whether manned or unmanned. This aircraft when unveiled with be based off "old" secret technology most likely.

I'm really glad that this dicussion started, because there is evidence out there for "hypersonic" program to exist or did exist. One way to investigate this, is to try and track the fuel that would be used. Public and private companies outside the Govt realm would have supplied the fuel. More noteably, exotic fuel going to certain location overseas due to refuel points. Unless the US Govt went to an all aerial re-fueling program for a hypersonic aircraft. The problem in that lies with whether is can truly fly slow enough with the fuel plane, alot like the problem the SR-71 had.

Anyways, I stand by Chris H in this discussion.
