the reality of it is this... they probably wouldn't have paid the $25 price to get an updated image, so they probably wait until someone does this on purpose to get the most bang for their buck.... seems like common sense to me. You guys gotta realize, they are interested in having up to date images of the entire Earth, which would cost quite a bit at the $25 price.... so they cut costs where they can, IF they even have to pay at all.... considering that Google Earth is considered by many to be of educational value... It is probably donated.
