Most retractible aircraft have hard points that are used to jack up the plane and "swing" the gear for routine maintenance. The weight of the plane on the gear is not only hard on strut seals, etc. it also causes flat spots on the bottom of the tires, just like your car when it sits for a long time. Wheeled jack stands could be used that would allow for the weight to be off the gear and still allow the aircraft to be moved about. This would help assure the aircraft are ready when needed. I can't tell you how many times I've taken off whopping down the runway with out of round tires and leaking strut seals just from setting.
