St Leo is one of a handful of universities that offer on base community college and 4 year college level coursework, with others including Univ. Maryland, and Troy Univ. If I were to guess, he started as enlisted, then went to university on the Air Forces dime, and went from there. My mother had a similar trajectory in the exact same line of work.
