The Celestron C-5 that Joerg uses is a good choice. That is about the largest scope I'd want to carry up a mountain -- if that's where you're going. A high quality 4-inch or 5-inch aperture low focal ratio APO might be a better (but much more expensive) choice. The atmospheric seeing conditions even at their very best won't realistically support anything better. You'll need a sturdy light weight tripod. I'd use a sensitive high speed CCD camera (flea3?), take many thousands of images, combine the very best and throw away the rest.
