I bought one of these for digiscoping - using my spotting scope with a small digital camera to really zoom in on the subject. I have used it with my cabelas 20-60X and a small canon camera. I also have a nice Kowa, but the tripod I have so far is too light to hold the Kowa, which I have a stand for from when I used to do CMP rifle shooting, but its not easily adjusted.
ideally with a digiscoping mount like this you will want a camera that can be fitted with a cable shutter release, like the canon G10 or 11. I'm sure there are more. hope to get on of those myself soon, mostly for pictures of birds, deer, etc.
there are other more camera/scope specific mounts too - search for digiscoping.
