When I was a kid in the 60's I was given a model of the XB-70 by a AF Col who was a friend of my fathers. He was rotating his deployment and was cleaning out his office. I wish I hung onto it along with all the other AF and NASA stuff I was given as a kid. While most kids had comics and baseball cards I had Mercury and Apollo models. The best thing I was ever given was a gas engine propeller powered model called a Wing Thing that was like a small powered hang glider. These were a small scale version of a prototype that was going to be used as a re-entry wing that would carry a capsule down to a soft landing. I still have a basement full of communications equipment and some other stuff left over from AF projects. I have a model of the A-10 that my friends son fly's. I hope to meet up with him if I get posted to Bagram next year.
