It also shows 2501 east, north and south (Twentynine Palms Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center) being active through the end of the year. Normaly these areas don't show even when active. My guess is this is all just advanced notice to the airlines. "Sorry, no shortscuts through these areas during the holidays"
Wasn't there something in the news about opening up military airspace off the east coast for the airliners for the holidays a year or two ago? Nellis is saying "No way, not here".
