The stills pics look intriguing.

The video (various pieces from various sites) make it clear this is a medium/high altitude conventional aircraft traveling inbound toward the coast. The contrail fades and varies as it passes through different altitudes and air conditions....it's not like a Shuttle launch. The "glow" you might see in some shots that comes and goes? That's the sun glinting off of the belly of a metallic object like an airliner travelling east and reflecting the setting rays from the west. Easy scenario.

It makes for great visual theater. It is however quite conventional and common.
