Yes, the "donuts on a rope" theory has been disproven many times over. These are common ocurrances under certain atmospheric conditions. The "pulser" aircraft noise however is what is interesting here (again)...

Steve, since you heard the aircraft and could see the contrails above you, did you actually see the aircraft (prior to racing home to get your camera)?
