Would give plenty to be annoyed by that "how and shriek" again today! LOL! Did the early F-104's have a loud BOOM when the afterburner kicked in at start of take-off? And I mean a really loud BOOM! I remember there were certain fighter jets back in the 1960's and 1970's that visited the old Glenview Naval Air Station by where I used to live that had a distinct and very loud BOOM (almost like an explosion) when the after burner kicked in while beginning its roll for take-off. You not only could hear but you could feel that BOOM from a half mile away!
