I've been in Vegas in January when it is dry and not all that cold and tried to head north (by motor) only to have to turn back due to heavy rain. I can believe that Feb. is not the best time for such a trip.

Regarding sharing an airplane, the pilots like to have the load balanced. Doesn't that mean the one person will get a bad view (look out the wrong window). If you retrace the route up, then it wouldn't matter, but if you make a look, one guy will be seeing Mt. Stirling when the other person is spying on the NTS, etc.

My only experience in small aircraft was in a helcopter. Are the pilots of small planes as paranoid about load balance?
