A-10's are not the only aircraft carrying live ordinance flying out of Nellis. In fact, that was one of the main reasons for the land grab on the north end of Nellis. Unless dictated otherwise by winds or other circumstances, most mass launches during exercises are TO the north, and recoveries are FROM the north. Between the launch and recovery window, the active runway direction is reversed. I have actually seen an A-10 take off on rwy 3R, while an F-16 was in final approach to rwy 21R while they were reversing the active runway direction.
