I'm not convinced that this video shows the first flight. Maybe it is a mix of two or more tests but the landing gear was not retracted until the second flight on July 1. For the first flight, there were two T-38 chase planes, piloted by Dave Ferguson (with Pete Barnes in the back seat) and Russ Easter (back seater unknown). The first flight was documented on 16mm film and footage of the sortie was edited at Area 51 into a one-minute sequence. It was then flown by special courier to Andrews AFB and taken to the White House where it was viewed by President Ronald Reagan.
