There is what appears to be a manned security checkpoint on the entrance road to the site off of State Highway 54 (31°34'13.76"N, 104°51'11.32"W). This checkpoint was not visible on the 2005 and earlier imagery, so it is extant with the airstrip facility. There does not appear to be a similar security facility at the Blue Origin launch facility 15 miles to the southeast of the airfield, so that may throw some doubt on whether they are related (one would think security at the launch complex would be higher than that at a supporting airfield).
